bye bye November

Ooops. Where did November go? Seriously! I successfully neglected the blog-o this month, but I was able to get some much loved crafty time in. Especially since the hubster got his Modern Warfare 2 game, I'm sure someone out there knows how seriously obsessed these boys get with those video games. Anyways... here is a simple layout I did for our trip to the OC Fair in the summer. It was super hot that day, but we were sure to get some of that fried fair food goodness =)

Bring on December! AND my trip to CHINA!!!

Golden what?

Happy November! Just wanted to share a layout I did to participate in the Fun with Type class at Two Peas in a Bucket. In this class you had to use letter stamps.

I used my letter stamps to create the background paper by doing the emboss-resist technique on aqua cardstock.

I thought this random letter background would be perfect for this layout because this picture is from a recent adventure off the Las Vegas Strip when we tried to check into the wrong hotel... who really "reads" those big-sparkling-flashing signs anyway. hehe.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #18

This is the first challenge that I have ever participated it! I'm so inspired by Dawn McVey. When she posted this challenge I knew I had to participate. Yay me!

My card is pretty simple, but it was fun to make. I freehand cut the flower & leaf with felt. I used a bit of glimmer mist on the flower to darken the color and then carefully used my heat tool to clean up the edges and shape the flower and leaf (which is my favorite part... its so cute and dimensional =] ). If only I was better at taking pictures!!

EDIT: This is a picture that I took the next day in some natural light. Much better! I also used the "Macro" setting that  was recommended by Tammy (thanks a bunch) in the comments I received for this post (that's right! I got some comments! *big smiles* I feel the crafty-love!)

Since the flower was so big I kept the rest of the card simple by stamping the kraft cardstock with VersaMark, wrapping some cream floss around it and stamping a sentiment.

So that's it =) My first challenge completed!

"Las Brisas"

I was able to snap some quick photos of a scrapbook page I made back in July. I was inspired by this layout by Kelly Purkey. I loved how the background pattern paper looked and the diagonal-randomness of the butterflies.

Instead of the butterflies that Kelly Purkey used I wanted to use buttons, BUT my random placement skills aren't very RANDOM looking. So I ended up putting a row of them down the page (in a somewhat random pattern of color and shapes). Even though it didn't end up how I envisioned it, I am happy with how it turned out =)

The colors are so bright and happy. This scrapbook page documents the morning of my husband's birthday AND the day after he had his long awaited Lasik procedure done. We had breakfast in Laguna Beach and he was so amazed and happy that he could finally see!!!

I couldn't really think of a short&sweet title for this layout, so I went with the name of the restaurant we went to... it's not ideal, but it works.

Journaling: "He woke up with 20/20 vision & a huge smile on his face! To celebrate his successful surgery we had breakfast @ Las Brisas, Laguna Beach... and both of us enjoyed the view w/ PERFECT vision! 07.17.09"

Until next time... diana

Hootie found a home!

This is a little felt bird I created a while ago. I knew I wanted to put him somewhere I would enjoy and get to look at all the time... so I placed him on the cover a little notebook I created. This is just a little peek at my project since the cover isn't finished ;)

(warning...the photo quality stinks)

Blogging is hard...

So I've had this blog for almost a month and haven't posted anything yet. I would love to post some pictures of some of my scrapbook pages, but I'm not satisfied with the picture quality. I've been doing some research and visiting a lot of other crafty blogs and found some good tips on getting some good pictures. I don't have a fancy camera (yet..hehe) but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

Hopefully I'll be able to try some of the techniques I learned about and finally start posting more regularly =).

Oh... and I don't know about other people, but it's hard thinking up a meaningful (and cute) blog name. Maybe that's why I don't feel as compelled to post stuff yet... like most everything in my life, it's a work in progress.

nite nite.
